Melissa Byrd, MA, NCC
Melissa earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University in Scranton, PA. She is a doctoral candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Argosy University. She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and an Executive Member for Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) – Sigma Phi Sigma Chapter. Melissa is also an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Virginia Counselors Association (VCA) where she presented this past November on Learned Resistance vs. Learned Helplessness: Teaching Today’s College Generation how to Cope.
Melissa utilizes a technical eclectic approach that involves person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and existential therapy. She works with a variety of mental health concerns and substance abuse. She provides individual, couples and group therapy.
In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, reading, baking, and traveling.
